The History and Philosophy Behind Our Success

FREEPORT SHIPBUILDING incorporated in 1981.  Over the years, we have built a variety of vessels including U. S. Coast Guard approved passenger vessels, oil field support vessels, mega yachts, and casino vessels. They have ranged in size from 60' long to 300' long.   Our location in Northwest Florida is ideally suited for year round operation unaffected by drastic seasonal changes. This, coupled with a good supply of skilled craftsmen, ensures our customers a quality product and on time delivery.

With its vision for the future, Freeport Shipbuilding continues to explore new markets.  An example of this are the three stock passenger yachts, which we call the Millennium Class.  These designs of 83', 95', and 107'x23'-6' wide will be U. S. Coast guard approved for 149 passengers.  "Our goal in designing this class of vessel is to give our customers the quality of 'custom built' without the exorbitant price tag", says Jim Murray, president.  Although these vessels have been pre-designed, our customers are left with numerous options including interior finishes and arrangements.  We believe the Millennium Class vessels will be a great success, not only for us but for the passenger vessel industry as a whole.

At Freeport Shipbuilding, we pride ourselves on the fact that nearly half of the vessels we have built have been for repeat customers. This is attributable to what we term "COST CONTROLLED CONSTRUCTION". This is a simple approach to building boats where we combine efficiency, experience, flexibility, and hands-on management to produce a quality vessel at a very competitive price. Another reason we enjoy so much repeat business, is that we work with our customers, not against them.

Our customers receive prompt, personal attention from all levels of management, because we realize the importance of investing in a project of this magnitude. This attention does not end when the contract is signed, but rather, increases as the vessel progresses through each phase of construction. Our goal is to make our customer's new vessel project a positive and pleasant experience during construction and a profitable venture after delivery.
